Why send messages to your favorites?

When a Vintie puts one of your listings in her favorites, it means she is (presumably) very interested.

She wants to either save this listing to buy it later or let you know that she is interested so that you can give her a small discount.

In both cases, by quickly sending them a message and even an offer for a reduced price, you increase your chances of selling the listing.

The decision to buy is often spontaneous, made on a whim or at first sight. To trigger the purchase, take advantage of the fact that the Vintie has recently viewed and liked your listing. Strike while the iron is hot!

The video below gives a quick overview of how it works and the options available for sending messages to your favorites:

How do Clemz's "messages to favourites" work?

The "Messages to favorites" feature allows you to let Clemz scan your received favorites so that it can automatically send a potential buyer a text chosen at random from your message templates and, if applicable, a discount offer on the item.

Clemz will first respond to your existing favorites: to speed up this process, there are options to skip these existing favorites or to read only the most recent ones (just those from the last few days).
Next, Clemz will check every 3 minutes to see if a new favorite has been received and will send a message to the relevant Vinties if the conditions are met.

This feature can be used alongside automatic messages. Clemz will then intelligently switch between the two features to minimise response times for favorites and messages.

Rules for sending a message:

When Clemz finds a favorite in your notifications, it will follow the rules below before sending an automatic message:

  • No more than two messages per Vintie in a 24-hour period (to avoid spam). This includes all messages: those sent by Clemz and those sent manually by you. Please note that if you leave message number two blank, only one message will be sent per 24 hours.
  • No messages will be sent to a favorite if they have already been exchanged. Clemz only sends messages or offers to "virgin" favorites: if the favorite has already been the subject of a message (manually or via Clemz), Clemz will ignore the favorite. This avoids sending contradictory or off-topic messages.
  • By reading each favorite and message received, Clemz identifies the last message exchanged with a Vintie. All favorites from this Vintie that were given before this last message will be ignored. This is because Clemz cannot read the content of exchanges and prefers to avoid sending an automatic message after a discussion has already started .
  • Clemz always sends messages to the most recent favorites first.
  • No messages will be sent to Vinties that you have blocked or excluded. Vinties that have been added to the "Vinties to exclude" list in Clemz (see below) are "excluded".

Follow Clemz's work:

There are several ways to follow what Clemz is doing with favorite messages:

  • Your Vinted inbox shows you all the messages and offers sent to Vinties (click here).
  • Your Clemz Dashboard givesyou a summary of messages sent (table at the bottom) and also allows you to check whether real-time monitoring of favorites is still in progress or not (here), for example from a device other than the one on which Clemz is running. Example:

Step-by-step explanation + details of options

The Clemz tab for sending messages to favorites can be accessed by going to the "messaging" page on Vinted.

The ⚙ Settings button allows you to configure the options for this feature. You can also go via the Clemz Dashboard:

Setup by closet

If you have multiple closets, Clemz applies the same settings to all of them by default. But you can also create a specific configuration for each closet: different messages, different discounts, different options, etc.

On the Clemz Dashboard, select a closet from the drop-down menu to see whether it is using the default configuration or a custom configuration. The Clemz extension shows you the active configuration with a colour indicator: 🔵 default, 🟣 custom.

1. Configure the text of sent messages

The only mandatory setting: write the messages you want Clemz to send automatically. By clicking the 💬 First messages button, you’ll be redirected to clemz.app to enter your template messages.

The "first message" will be sent if a Vintie adds you to their favorites. The "second message" will be sent if they add you to their favorites a second time within 24 hours, unless you leave this second message blank. There is no third message template as Clemz does not send more than two messages to the same Vintie within 24 hours.

Example:

  • If a Vintie leaves you 4 favorites and Clemz reads them on the same day, she will receive message 1 and message 2 in succession.
  • If that same Vintie gives you 5 favorites 2 days later, Clemz will send her message 1 and message 2 again.

You can set up to 10 message "templates" at a time to reduce the risk of sending the same message to the same buyer. Clemz also tries to avoid sending the same template twice to the same person (on two different days): this makes it feel less "robotic" and more natural.

Optional - Exclude certain vinties

By clicking on 🙈 Ignored Vinties, you can add the names of Vinties you do not want to contact, even if they add you to their favorite.

This allows you, for example, to avoid spamming your subscribers or members of your boost group.

2.a) Choose your "sending options"

These options allow you to adjust how you will contact a potential buyer when all the rules for sending a message have been met.

You have two options available:

  • Offer a discount: by enabling this option, Clemz will include an offer (price reduction) in your messages for the item the Vintie has favorited. The offer is calculated automatically by Clemz based on a percentage discount or a fixed amount in euros. You can also choose how the proposed price is rounded: no rounding, rounded to the nearest whole number (e.g. €12.70 → €13.00) or rounded to the nearest tenth (e.g. €12.76 → €12.80).
  • Ignore if rating is below x: With this option, you can avoid sending messages or offers to Vinties with poor ratings for their sales and purchases. Please note that Vinties without a rating (new accounts) will be systematically ignored (no offers or messages) if you enable this option.

2.b) Choose "which favorites to read?"

These options concern the choice of favorites to read or not. Unread favorites will simply be ignored and will not be recorded as "processed" in Clemz's memory. This means that if you change the options later, you can ask Clemz to read them again.

You have three options available:

  • "Received since at least...": This option allows you to skip favorites that are less than X minutes/hours/days old. This allows you to either avoid "jumping" directly on a potential buyer (so they don't feel "harassed") or to target slightly older favorites in order to follow up with a potential buyer a few hours/days later.
  • "Read history on...": When rereading your entire notification history to find favorites, Clemz may (for larger closets) come across thousands of notifications. Reading them can then be extremely time-consuming. Activate this option to shorten this reading step, taking care to choose a duration between 1 hour and 6 days.
By default, Clemz will attempt to read favorites from the last 7 days.
  • “Ignore all favorites already received”: By default, Clemz rereads the history of your favorites already received. However, if you enable this option, Clemz will switch directly to “continuous monitoring” and will only react to favorites received in real time.

3) Send messages to favorites

Messages to favorites are ready to be sent: simply tick the "Favorites" box in the Clemz tab and start the process.

Clemz will fetch your favorites, read them, contact Vinties when relevant, etc. In the meantime, you can go for a run, do some gardening or prepare for tomorrow morning’s biology test 🦾

Restrictions by Vinted: explanations and tips

In mid-2025, Vinted introduced a restriction on reading favorite notifications. This restriction applies to all users and therefore to the Clemz extension: in short, it prevents you from contacting more than 20 favorites every 1 to 2 hours.

As a result, Clemz will pause (or delay) every 20 favorite read to avoid being blocked by Vinted.

How can you see this restriction for yourself?

The restriction can be viewed from your Vinted closet as it affects all users, even in manual mode:

  • Open your notifications
  • Open several favorite notifications, each in a new tab (on a computer: click on the notifications while holding down the CTRL key)
  • Each tab opens your Vinted messages and loads the message to contact the person who gave the favorite
  • After opening 21 notifications, subsequent messages will no longer load...

What can be done about it?

Limiting messages to one every four minutes is ridiculously slow. Especially when you have a large account and messages to favorites significantly increase sales.

We need to collectively protest to Vinted and push them to change this ridiculous setting.

Contact Vinted and explain that when you send messages manually, you encounter a bug that prevents notifications from opening after 20 clicks (see the test I described above).
It is not in their interest to reduce your sales too much. Limiting you to 1 or 2 messages per minute, for example, would be reasonable.

What tips are there anyway?

If the restriction continues over time, here are a few simple tips to optimise your messaging to your favorites:

  1. Only send one message per Vintie per 24 hours, not two. To do this, leave the second message blank: this will allow you to contact more Vinties
  2. If you have a lot of notifications to process, focus on those from the last "1-2 hours" so you don't get stuck reading old notifications for too long. Messages sent at the time of favorite are the most effective.
  3. Make the most of Clemz's memory: this reduces the chances of unnecessarily reading a favorite that has already been processed and thus "wasting" a notification reading.
  4. Do not restart Clemz if it is in "timeout" mode. These phases are essential and cannot be bypassed (I've tried...): you will only delay the moment when you can send other messages.

Configure Chrome to alert you when a captcha appears

Sometimes, when you send messages, Vinted may suspect a bot and send a captcha to be solved. In this case, Clemz will display the captcha and may play a sound alert to notify you.

To hear this alert, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Click on the icon to the left of the address "www.vinted.fr" to access the Chrome settings for the Vinted website
  2. In the list that appears, find "sound" and select the "Allow" option.
  3. And that's it! If you are on the Chrome window when a captcha appears, you will hear an alert!
